Paper Pirates was born in Grey Lynn, Auckland on a wintry evening in a collective art space above a cafe. The floors were wooden, the weather was cold and the atmosphere was electric. The second instalment found us growing into the skeleton of a Korean pool hall in Newmarket. The third and final home-grown edition saw us exhibit in huge refitted silos down by the harbour. With each show we grew and we learned until we figured why the hell not take this offshore. And so we did.
