SHOOT. PRINT. SEND. STEAL.
Paper Pirates is a guerrilla photography exhibition.
Photographers print their favourite photographs, A3 or larger, post them to us, and we exhibit them for one night only. People come along and check out the photos, drink free booze and generally cavort about. At the end of the night, usually when the booze runs out, everyone steals the photographs off the wall to keep, for free, forever.
Paper Pirates started in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2012 in a dimly lit shared space above a cafe run by an ex-junkie. After three Auckland editions Paper Pirates made its international debut in 2014, touching down in Shibuya, the beating heart of Tokyo, Japan. Next, Paper pirates set their sights on the big Apple — and in June 2015, Paper Pirates landed in the thick of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC. Paper Pirates is coming to a new international city near you in 2015.
